“Eating ethically means giving moral consideration to those on your plate.” AFA’s Founder, Dr. Jonathan Wadley, spoke recently at an ethical food consumption panel at the University of San Diego. He pointed out that, in addition to not hurting animals, eating ethically means eating in a way that is sustainable for the planet. Seventy percent of water in the American West goes to animal agriculture. And as those in the Global South begin eating more like Americans, there simply isn’t enough land for the world to eat an animal-centric diet. The panel was a great opportunity to create dialog with chefs, farmers, food critics, scientists, and consumers.
